Bryan Rachal, University Communications FLORENCE, Ala. - The University of North Alabama Theatre will present Nikolai Gogol's The Inspector General. Performances are April 6-8 and 11-12, at 7:30 p.m.; and April 9 at 2 p.m., at the George S. Lindsey Theatre. The play, translated by Thomas Seltzer, deals with a stranger and his servant who arrive in a backward village. The mayor and his leaders suspect the young man is the undercover government inspector rumored to be weeding out corruption in rural Russia. Food, drink, horses, money and even a daughter's hand in marriage-there is no bribe too small to overlook the indiscretions. Considered one of the greatest comedies of the 19th Century, this cartoonish farce exposes the exploitation and stupidity of small-town politics. General admission is $10, and $5 for UNA students, faculty, staff or alumni. Tickets available online at http://fg9.web-sitemap.39680a.com/theatre/productions.html; at the Lindsey Theatre Box Office (M-W-F, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.) or at the door. For more information: 256-765-4342
