FLORENCE, AL – The Finance Committee, of the University of North Alabama Board of Trustees, voted unanimously Thursday to recommend a five percent increase in cost of attendance for the 2022-23 academic year in order to mitigate the ongoing impact of inflation as well as multi-year budget deficits. The resolution will now go to the full Board for next steps. The increase equates to a $20 per credit hour tuition increase. Graduate tuition and the $30 per credit hour general semester undergraduate fee remain unchanged.
“The Finance Committee is a recommending body only, and, as such, it will be up to the full board to pass the resolution if it chooses to do so,” said Finance Committee Chair Marty Abroms. Abroms is also the president pro-tem of the Board of Trustees.
Even with the proposed increase, UNA remains 12th out of 14 state-supported institutions in cost of attendance. UNA is also the fastest-growing university in Alabama, having marked a dozen consecutive terms of record enrollment growth among a number of categories, including first-time, full-time freshmen; international students; online; and graduate students.
